Two Rogersville Natives Elevated to Leadership Roles Within Thread Bank

  • threadbank_editor

Thread Bank (“Thread”), a leader in integrated banking based in Rogersville, Tennessee, is pleased to announce the promotions of Sarah Russell and Hiram Newton to senior-level leadership positions within the growing organization.

Thread was built on the foundation of Civis Bank, which was founded in 1906 to serve communities across Eastern Tennessee. Thread was recapitalized by a group of FinTech venture capital and bank private equity investors in 2021, with a shared vision of creating a connected, contextual, and customer-first financial ecosystem.

Russell’s new title is Senior Vice President East Tennessee Co-Market President/Director of Loan Operations. A Rogersville native and graduate of Leadership Hawkins, Russell began her banking career as a teller with the bank. Over her 20-year career, she has contributed to nearly every aspect of the business as she has risen to her most recent title of VP, Director of Loan Operations. She and her family are active in Caney Creek Baptist Church, where Russell is also the longtime director of the church’s Vacation Bible School program. Russell has also served as Board Secretary for Thread since March 2012.

Newton, also a Rogersville native and a graduate of East Tennessee State University, joins the bank as Senior Vice President Co-Market President and has worked in community banking throughout his career. The father of five children, he and his family are active members of Persia Baptist Church.

“As we continue to integrate new technology to enhance the security and convenience of our customers’ online banking experience, we are equally committed to strengthening our community relationships,” said Thread CEO and President Chris Black. “Sarah and Hiram both have a demonstrated history of service leadership within the Thread team and the local community. Both bring a wealth of experience to their new roles that will strengthen Thread’s commitment to the communities we serve.”
